CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A former Fort Smith Public Schools after-school care worker was arrested after being accused of raping a 9-year-old girl, court records show.

Asher Ellis, 20, faces two counts of rape, and 100 counts of charges related to possessing or viewing child sexual abuse material, according to court filings.

During a police interview on Dec. 3, Ellis, a former SPICE Worker with Fort Smith Public Schools, was questioned about sexual abuse allegations involving a 9-year-old girl. He denied any inappropriate behavior toward students in his care, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The affidavit describes two alleged incidents between Ellis and the minor on April 7, 2024. Ellis told officers he remembered the date of the incidents “due to it being the day before the Solar Eclipse.”

Additionally, Ellis reportedly admitted to having CSAM and trying to share it online. According to the affidavit, he told investigators he used X, Discord and Telegram to find and communicate with others who had CSAM. He also allegedly tried to buy CSAM from two people and persuaded a friend to send him a 300-image file.

Ellis has been issued a no-contact order with the alleged victim, according to court filings.

Court records show Ellis posted a $100,000 bond on Dec. 8 and is scheduled to appear for a status hearing on May 27, 2026.
